Flood & drain hydroponics system.
Cheap and easy to make. Guaranteed fast yield. Virtually zero energy to run.
Just add water and plant-food for superb plants and high yields.
Growers with lamps of substantial weight can now enjoy free movement of their lamps.
The now widely available shelving brackets provide a firm mounting solution for virtually any CFL or LED application.
The wall mounted brackets are easy to fix to virtually any material including plasterboard.

A shelving bracket allows the CFL (or LED assembly) to be positioned ideally 30 cm above plants. Two work well together.
A hinge allows easy fitting of the CFL into the E40 lamp holder in the vertical position.

The CFL can then safely swing into the horizontal position.
The CFL can also be positioned at 45 degrees above plants which provides lighting above the plants as well as to lower foliage.
Here is fully assembled wall mounted adjustable shelving.
All peices are sold seperately in retail DIY stores like B&Q.
Upright wall fixings vary from 0.5 metre, to 1 metre & 1.5 metre. They are very light and easy to fit. Cheap to buy from just a few £s per peice. E.g. Uprights from £5, Brackets from £2. Clicking this link will get you started www.diy.com

Here is a very simple E40 mounting, without the hinge added.
IMO, you can load the CFL by holding the fitting with your knees.

What colour spectrum lamp should I use?
IMO, the light spectrum is not that important.
You can use a dual spectrum CFL, or a dual spectrum LED lamp, or a mix of Blue (for vegging) & Red (for flowering) lamps.
LED lamps often have a mix of Blue & Red dual spectrum diodes.
Veg (or grow plant leaves) using 24 hours of light; ideally using a Blue vegging lamp or a Dual sprectrum lamp.
(Plants grown without 24 hours of light for vegging will flower earlier affecting yield, but this is not that important.)

Flower using 12 hours of light; ideally using a Red flowering lamp (or a mix of Red & Blue lamps for more light), with 12 hours of total darkness to enduce flowering.

Place lamps close to plants to increase light lumens, 50cm is a guide.
